AE Title (AET)

Application Entity Title — the name a DICOM node answers to on the network.

Every DICOM node on a network has an Application Entity Title — a short case-sensitive name (≤ 16 chars, VR AE) it uses to identify itself and address others. Routing depends on it: the Calling AE Title (0008,0050) and Called AE Title (0008,0051) tags must match what the PACS expects, or a C-STORE is refused.
