StudyDescription / ProcedureCode correction
Correct the study description and procedure code to match the performed exam.
Problem
The Study Description field says “CHEST W/O CONTRAST” but the procedure actually included contrast. Or the procedure code is missing entirely and needs to be added for billing reconciliation. You need to edit study-level descriptor tags that affect how the study is categorized in the PACS and billing systems.
Steps
-
Open the file (⌘O) and switch to Edit mode (⌘3).
-
Study Description (0008,1030) — filter for “Study Description”, double-click, enter the corrected text (e.g.
CHEST W/ CONTRAST), and save. -
Accession Number (0008,0050) — filter for the tag, double-click, enter the RIS-linked accession number (e.g.
ACC12345), and save. -
Referring Physician (0008,0090) — filter, double-click, enter
PHYSICIAN^REFERRED, and save. -
Study Date (0008,0020) — filter, double-click, enter
20260607in YYYYMMDD format. Invalid formats like2026/06/07are rejected with the message “Must be exactly 8 digits: YYYYMMDD”. -
Study Time (0008,0030) — filter, double-click, enter
231800in HHMMSS format. Invalid formats like12 o-clockare rejected with a validation error. -
All changes can be undone individually with ⌘Z or in sequence.
Result
All five study-level tags show their corrected values in gold, with Study Date and Study Time rejecting malformed input. The dirty counter totals the edits, and each save is its own undoable step back to the original.
