Whole-slide tiled viewer

Interactive pan/zoom over a whole-slide pyramid, streaming only the visible tiles.

Browser: available nowmacOS app: 1.1.0 or newer

The tiled viewer navigates a whole-slide (SM) pyramid interactively instead of compositing it. The canvas is the size of the viewport, and each view loads only the tiles that intersect it, taken from the pyramid level whose resolution matches the current zoom. Tiles are released as they leave the view, so a slide far larger than memory stays navigable.

Controls — drag to pan, wheel to zoom about the cursor, + / - to zoom, arrow keys to pan, 0 to fit the whole slide. The readout in the top-right names the pyramid level in use, its downsample factor, the current magnification, and how many tiles are resident.

Open it from the Tiled viewer button on the static overview preview. A slide whose coarsest level is too large to composite skips the preview and opens here directly.

Caution Tiles are placed by the standard row-major TILED_FULL order. TILED_SPARSE slides, which position each frame by its own Plane Position (Slide), are not yet mapped and report no streamable level.
