New Session (Replace Study)

Open a DICOM file or folder, replacing the active study and resetting the undo timeline.

Starts a new session by loading a DICOM dataset from disk, replacing any currently active study. Accepted: .dcm, .dicom, .DCM, .dcm.gz, and folders of the same. A .zip is a dictionary archive rather than a study — see Settings → Standard docs.

How it behaves

• Replaces the current study and resets the edit overlay and undo/redo timeline.
• Loads the DICOM header into the Tag tree and renders pixel data in the viewport.
• To merge additional files into an existing study without losing edits or history, use Add to Current Session (Import) instead.
