3D VR toggle
Render the whole volume as a rotatable 3D image.
Browser: available nowmacOS app: 1.1.0 or newer
Volume rendering casts a ray through the whole volume for every pixel on screen and colours it through a preset transfer function, producing the rotatable 3D image. Drag to rotate, right-drag to zoom, middle-drag to pan.
It shares the reconstructed volume with 3D MPR, so switching between the two does not reload the series. The view carries no slice index, frame strip, or plane label, because nothing in it corresponds to a single slice.
While you are rotating, the render deliberately coarsens and sharpens again when you let go — that is the quality trade that keeps the rotation responsive, not a rendering fault.
Caution The image is computed from the whole volume, not a picture that exists in the file. Small or low-contrast structures can be hidden entirely by the preset’s opacity curve. Read and measure on the 2D stack or MPR.
