Status Bar — Custom Schema
Indicates that an uploaded DICOM dictionary is active instead of the bundled one.
The Schema indicator lights up when tag documentation is coming from a dictionary you uploaded rather than the one compiled into this build.
The dictionary is what the app knows about the DICOM standard: tag names, VRs, value multiplicities, the modules each element belongs to, and its usage type within them. It is compiled from the innolitics/dicom-standard project, and uploading a newer archive from that project is the only way to replace it — see Settings → Standard docs.
Note A custom dictionary changes what the standard’s documentation says, not what the app accepts. It does not add institution-specific private tags, re-label elements, or introduce validation rules. Vendor private tags are resolved separately, against the bundled private dictionary, and are unaffected by this setting.
When the indicator is dark, the bundled dictionary is active.
