Clinical dose dashboard (CTDIvol, DLP)
Render clinical dose dashboards summarizing patient exposure metrics (CTDIvol, DLP).
Problem
Reviewing dose safety for a patient requires aggregating metrics across all irradiation events in an RDSR — total DLP, peak CTDIvol, effective dose estimate — and comparing them against reference dose levels (DRLs) or institutional thresholds. Individual event tables (use case 8.9.1) do not surface cumulative exposure at a glance, making it difficult to spot outlier studies.
Steps
- Open an RDSR file (⌘O) and switch to the Dose tab in the right-rail.
- View the dashboard panel — above the event table, the dashboard shows summary cards for total DLP (mGy·cm), peak CTDIvol (mGy), estimated effective dose (mSv), and study-level protocol.
- Check threshold indicators — if total DLP or CTDIvol exceeds the configured DRL threshold, the card highlights in amber. Hover for the threshold value.
- Review the dose distribution chart — a bar chart below the summary cards breaks down DLP contribution by acquisition series, making it easy to identify which protocol drives the most exposure.
Result
The dashboard provides a single-screen clinical dose summary for the study: aggregate DLP, peak CTDIvol, effective dose estimate, and a per-series breakdown — all derived directly from the RDSR without manual calculation. Threshold indicators flag studies that exceed reference dose levels, supporting radiation safety review workflows.
