BodyPartExamined correction

Set the correct anatomical region in BodyPartExamined.

Problem

A head CT was incorrectly tagged with Body Part Examined = “CHEST” due to a technologist selection error at the scanner console. This mislabeling causes the study to appear in the wrong hanging protocol, be excluded from body-part-specific queries, and potentially cause mismatched priors to be pulled for comparison.

Steps

  1. Open the file (⌘O) and switch to Edit mode (⌘3).

  2. Filter for Body Part Examined (0018,0015) and double-click to edit.

  3. Enter the correct body part — e.g. HEAD. The CS VR (Code String) accepts any short code string; standard values include HEAD, CHEST, ABDOMEN, PELVIS, EXTREMITY.

  4. Click Save change.

  5. If you’re also correcting Laterality (0020,0060), filter for it separately and edit — e.g. set to L (left), R (right), or B (bilateral).

Result

Body Part Examined shows its corrected value in gold, so the PACS hanging protocol selects the right layout. Body Part and Laterality edits are tracked and undoable independently.
