Shown when no dataset is loaded — prompts you to open one.

Shown until a dataset is loaded. Use Open files…, Open folder…, ⌘O, or drag and drop onto the workspace.

Accepted: .dcm, .dcm.gz, a folder of either, and .zip. A lone .zip — dropped or opened — is treated as a DICOM dictionary archive rather than a study, and is compiled in place; see Standard docs. Once a study is open, an archive is refused instead, because compiling one reloads the app.

Note There is no in-app list of recent files. On the desktop app, recently opened studies appear in the macOS File → Open Recent menu and in the Dock icon’s right-click menu.
