Metadata correction

Institution / station / operator tags

Correct institution, station, and operator identification tags.

Problem

The Institution Name, Station Name, and Operator Name tags are blank or contain generic defaults from the scanner. These tags are critical for audit trails, equipment tracking, and technologist credentialing. You need to populate them with accurate values or correct existing entries.

Steps

  1. Open the file (⌘O) and switch to Edit mode (⌘3).

  2. Institution Name (0008,0080) — filter, double-click, enter the institution (e.g. CLINIC ONE), and save.

  3. Station Name (0008,1010) — filter, double-click, enter the modality station name (e.g. STATION ONE), and save.

  4. Operators’ Name (0008,1070) — filter, double-click, enter the technologist’s name in PN format (e.g. OPERATOR ONE), and save.

  5. Validation for Operators’ Name (PN VR): max 64 characters per component. A 65-character value is rejected with a validation error.

  6. All three tags appear gold-highlighted after saving. The dirty counter aggregates the total modifications.

Result

Institution Name, Station Name, and Operators’ Name show their corrected values, with Operators’ Name enforcing PN length limits and rejecting over-long input before saving. Each edit is individually undoable with ⌘Z.
