Cine playback of multi-frame series

Play an ultrasound or angiography loop at its stored frame rate, with pause and a speed control.

Browser: available nowmacOS app: 1.4.0 or newer

Play the frames of an ultrasound or angiography loop in the 2D viewer instead of stepping through them one by one.

Steps

  1. Open a multi-frame series (⌘O). The cine controls appear at the left of the frame strip.
  2. Select Play. The frames advance at the stored frame rate and start again from the first frame after the last one.
  3. Pick a speed from 0.25× to 4× to slow the loop down or speed it up. The rate in frames per second is shown next to the speed.
  4. Select Pause to stop on the current frame. See Cine playback.

Limits

  • The stored rate comes from Recommended Display Frame Rate, then Cine Rate, then Frame Time. A file with none of them plays at 10 frames per second.
  • Playback is limited to 1 to 60 frames per second.
  • One tile plays at a time. Clicking another tile, picking another series or changing the layout stops playback.
  • In a split grid, the rate is read from the selected instance, not from each tile’s own series.

Result

The series plays as a loop on screen. Nothing is written to the file.
