RTDOSE colour wash over the planning CT/MR

Show the planned dose as a colour wash over the CT or MR on the three MPR planes.

Browser: available nowmacOS app: 1.4.0 or newer

Check where a radiotherapy plan puts its dose by showing the RT Dose over the CT or MR it was planned on.

Steps

  1. Open the planning CT or MR and its RT Dose together (⌘O).
  2. Pick the CT or MR in the series header and switch to 3D MPR.
  3. In the Dose overlay bar, pick the RT Dose. The dose appears in colour on all three planes. See Dose overlay.
  4. Move Opacity to see more or less of the anatomy under the dose.
  5. Read the isodose lines at 95%, 80%, 50% and 20% of the maximum dose. Clear Isodose lines to hide them.

Limits

  • The RT Dose must share the image series’ Frame of Reference UID (0020,0052). A dose from another frame of reference is refused with the reason; there is no registration step.
  • The isodose levels are fixed at 95%, 80%, 50% and 20% of the maximum dose in the grid.
  • The dose grid must be uncompressed, evenly spaced, and carry Dose Grid Scaling (3004,000E).
  • Doses below 10% of the maximum dose are not coloured.

Result

The dose is shown on screen over the images as a colour wash and isodose lines. Nothing is written to the files.
